Charter school sponsor rewards high performing school.

Ohio Council of Community Schools provides Apple Computer Lab
to Columbus Preparatory Academy – rated Excellent with Distinction

(L-R) Mr. Carr, CPA Director & Regional V.P.; Ms. Darlene Chambers, OCCS Executive Director, Mr. Patrick Kriner, OCCS Governing Board President - and - two very excited CPA students.

Darlene Chambers, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Ohio Council for Community Schools (OCCS) said, “our donation of a fully equipped Apple lab gives life to the idea that when it comes to education, “one size does not work for every child.” The innovative and personalized approach that Columbus Preparatory Academy (CPA) uses does work and that is why they are rated Excellent with Distinction.

We believe all students deserve a quality education. To achieve that, we feel that the role of Sponsors is not only collecting compliance documents….but must also include aspects of supporting quality schools. Education in the 21st Century is not simply done via blackboards and workbooks. Today’s students work best from SMART Boards and computers.

This Apple Lab will allow CPA to continue to drive change and accelerate learning for its students.”

The outstanding CPA 'team' and Mr. Carr are ready to cut the dedication ribbon for the students.

The new Apple Computer Lab quickly filled with excited students as they listen to Mr. Carr.

"Christmas arrived early at this school." CPA teacher demonstrates computer to students.

State Representative Barbara R. Sears, District 46. “I’m excited about the positive impact this Apple computer lab will have on these students. I believe Ohio should encourage more of these types of educational partnerships, and be supportive of the relationships between quality charter schools and their sponsors.

Also, I want to give a special thanks to the Columbus Preparatory Academy for doing an outstanding job educating our youth.”

Congratulations to Ohio Council of Community Schools
for defining the partnership of sponsors and its schools.

and

Columbus Preparatory Academy
for high academic standards and performance.
